Gareth Pugh Creates Their Incredible Nail Fashion Using Minx for Their Fall/ Winter 2011 Shows
The Gareth Pugh Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection which was shown in Paris on March 2, 2011 and of course the head Minxes and co-founders Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin were there to work their nail Magic. They were also kind enough to share some fab shots from behind the scenes at the show.
Nail stylist Marian Newman handled the nail fashion for the show. Gareth Pugh stylist, Katie Shillingford, provided her with a swatch sample of the (very specific) blue color she wanted for the show. Marian sent along the information to Janice & Dawn to see what they could do.
“I was only able to provide Janice and Dawn with a copy of the swatch, but that was enough for them to create Minx in that exact shade,” explained Marian.
“From that point, Janice, Dawn and I collaborated to develop three different nail designs revolving around the blue and gold colors central to the collection.”
A few days before the show, the designer made the final decision to use the gold-framed waxy blue Minx which showed a flash of gold under the nail. This allowed Marian plenty of time for pre-show preparations.
The day of the show, both Janice and Dawn joined Marian and her team of David Barton, Helen Lisle-Taylor, Lucy Galsworthy, and Kimberley Casey backstage to assist in nail preparation.
The complete nail featured gold underneath the nail, and a perfect gold frame on three sides, giving every model immaculate, matching nails complete with Marian’s “Parisian” shape.
As always, thanks to the Minx team for sharing these fun images, thanks to Marian and her amazing team for her always-fab nail fashion & thanks to photographer Becky Maynes for being backstage.
