London Fashion Week: Nails by Mets & MinxLusion At Designer Henrietta Ludgate Show
Henrietta Ludgates’s Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection was presented on February 22, 2011 during London Fashion Week, filled with elaborate metallic details and colours. What better to set off that cool, shiny look than MinxLusion nails?
Nail stylist Metta Phommavongsa, owner of Nails by Mets was in charge of the nail fashion & application. To ensure she had the right feel for the show she met with the designer early in February.
“When I first spoke with Henrietta, she mentioned there was a lot of pyramid stud detailing in the Autumn/Winter collection and she was interested in having metallic or glacier nails for the models to accentuate this element,” recalls Metta.
“I immediately suggested Silver Lightning Minx or MinxLusion because nothing else can give such a high shine and amazing metallic finish. Henrietta fell in love with the prismatic, holographic look of MinxLusion and so we went with that for the LookBook and again with the installation during fashion week in order to maintain consistency” explained Metta.
Last Minute Plans
Metta didn’t receive confirmation that she would be providing nail fashion for the collection until 6.30 am the day of the show. Upon receiving word she emailed Minx co-founders Dawn Lynch-Goodwin and Janice Jordan, who came to offer support. “I really enjoyed being able to introduce Minx to Henrietta and the models since none of them had tried Minx before and they were surprised and delighted with the impactful, unique looks that Minx can provide both in person and in photographs,” says Metta.
“Also, we were on a tight schedule and so it was a great benefit that Minx is a solid nail coating and doesn’t require any drying time.”
