Minx and Vivienne Westwood go Street
Fashion week season is in full swing and we are celebrating the big event at home with a fab Minx giveaway. They’ve been heating up runways around the globe with their own brand of nail fashion.
Another Year of Minx
Following the success of last season’s show, Minx co-founders Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin were asked to customize the Vivienne Westwood show nails for a second season. Minx secured legendary nail stylist Marian Newman (also back again) to guide the creative process and lead the nail stylist team backstage.
“The nail brief was very specific with the key point being that the nail coatings were to look and feel like the surface of a skateboard.” Janice explained.
No Margin for Error
Due to the close timing of the brief, the Minx designs were delivered a couple of days before the test show, which left very little time for any adaptations. Luckily those ladies know their stuff and were able to produce some fab designs!
“We had not created that texture before, but we experimented and developed that exact texture that we are calling the ‘Touch Me, Feel Me’ Minx.” Said Janice.
“The Minx coatings were just as the brief described: rough, grey and abrasive, just like the surface of a skateboard.” Said Marian.
The Nail Magicians
Marian’s nail team was comprised of veteran nail stylist Monica Rohipoll, Kirsty Meakin and five nail technicians who secured their place on Marian’s team by winning a contest sponsored by Minx nails. Laura Streeter, Laura White, Sarah Marr, Hollie Wakeham, and Samantha Yates experienced their first fashion week show at Vivienne Westwood, applying custom Minx and hand-applied tattoos to the fingers and toes of the models.
Stay tuned, we’ve got some fab behind the scenes pictures from this amazing show to share as well so be sure to enter our Marvelous Minx giveaway & subscribe to the Inspirationail newsletter to get the scoop first.
