Custom Minx for Daniella Kallmeyer Heats up NY Fashion Week
Fashion week season is our favourite time of the year and we are celebrating the big event at home with a fab Minx giveaway. They’ve been up and down a variety of runways at New York Fashion Week.
Custom Nail Fashions Taking Runways by Storm
Calla isn’t the only one using Minx this year and as always we are excited to share some behind the scenes pics. Daniella Kallmeyer’s Fall/ Winter 2012 collection was revealed during New York Fashion Week with the models wearing custom Minx nails designed to perfectly complement the collection.
“I knew that to get this look, the nails HAD to be Minx and it would be the look of the season!” Daniella exclaimed.
The Story
Daniella first heard of Minx when she was making final preparations for the 2011 show and realized that the nail polish her team had been experimenting with wasn’t going to work. Daniella said “I was in a bit of a panic, but fortunately Lisa Logan was at the show and swooped in like an angel and saved the day!” Daniella explained that veteran New York nail stylist Lisa Logan pulled out sheets of Silver Lightning Minx from her kit, and was able to deliver the exact look that she wanted.
Daniella described her 2012 collection as “Kind of raver 90’s youth subculture mixed with sophisticated underground society – plastic meets Saville Row. Since this season is all about super polished, high gloss, and modern looks, I couldn’t think of anything better to complement the sophisticated party girl look than Minxed fingertips.”
The Minx Touch
Daniella decided she wanted to design custom Minx for her collection so she provided Minx co-founder Janice Jordan with several images. An oil slick, the finished high-saturated print, and images of the fabrics from the collection provided guidance.
“The plastic used on the some of the coats has a rainbow hologram iridescence to it, and that kind of effect could not be pulled off by regular polish,” Daniella explained.
The Magicians
Lisa Logan and her team Tiana Logan, Najzali Allen, Valerie Quinones, Titilayo Bankole, Priscilla Parker, Courtney Foster and Nail Taxi’s, Danielle Corbin Jaime applied the custom Minx to 15 models at the show. “This collection is just amazing,” said Lisa. “There are a lot of cool effects and gorgeous fabric, and the custom Minx is a perfect complement to finish off the look. The Minx created the effect of stardust on the model’s nails – fun and not over the top, but just right.” described Lisa.
“I am continually amazed at the limitless range of Minx I have seen” stated fellow nail stylist Danielle, who frequently uses Minx at fashion shows and events. “Just when I think I have seen every possible design or color, Minx creates something totally new, exciting and perfect for fashion week!”
