The Illustrated Nail
The Illustrated Nail is the brainchild of Sophie Harris-Greenslade, an illustration graduate from Kingston University with Penchant for all things nails. Sophie shares many of her nail art designs on her blog which has earned itself a huge worldwide following in just a few months.
Making the Fashion Grade
Her fab artwork has also attracted a plethora of celebrity clientele including M.I.A., Nicole Scherzinger, Keisha Buchanan & Alexandra Burke. She has also assisted backstage at London Fashion Week shows for the likes of Matthew Williamson, Hannah Marshall and Mark Fast.
Nail Art
Although nail art has only recently become a global obsession, Sophie has always been around it. Her mum has been practicing the art form for nearly two decades.
“My mum used to always do my nails. When I was younger I went to see the Spice Girls in concert and she painted little Union Jacks on them. After I graduated she encouraged me to take courses in nail technology to become a fully qualified nail technician.”
Inspired
Sophie hand-paints each nail design with incredible detail and precision, her inspiration is often found in current fashion trends. She sees nail art in everything from street wear to tattoos to vintage fabric prints.

Nailphilia
The Illustrated Nail, along with industry heavy hitters like as Marian Newman, Sophy Robson, Sam Biddle, Mike Pocock, Megumi Mizuno, Antony Buckley, Jenny Longworth, Sue Marsh & Kirsty Meakin will be collaborating on something special this September. The idea is to merge Fashion with Art and in the process redefine everything you thought you knew about the aesthetic of the fingertips.
