Minx Enhances Gareth Pugh’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection
From a simple idea for nails, Minx has catapulted into fashion fame as they collaborate with some of the most amazing designers on the planet. They provided the finishing touches on Gareth Pugh’s much-anticipated Spring/Summer 2012 collection show at the Garage Turenne in Paris.
The Film
Always daring, Pugh opened the show with a short film featuring model Crystal Renn wearing custom Purple Minx nails with a spine cleverly designed by legendary celeb nail stylist Marian Newman. The film was followed by a catwalk presentation of the collection.

“Gareth and his stylist, Katie Shillingford, envisioned using a nail shape for the models that would mirror the unique headpieces created for them.” Marian explained.

The Nails
In addition to creating the unique shape, Marian worked with Minx co-founder Janice Jordan to create custom striped Black and White Minx as well as striped Purple and Matte Silver Minx that the models wore on their fingertips.

“The stripes complemented the leather cages surrounding the models’ footwear and ensembles,” explained Marian, who told us that the models also wore Purple Minx on their toes.

Even the Boys
Marian also revealed that the four male models of the show maintained the theme by wearing Matte Silver Minx on their fingers.

Minx As Makeup?
In an innovative move, celebrated makeup artist Alex Box also used slender strips of Minx to create a disjointed, floating eyeliner for the models.

“The effect was amazing, and so ingenious” said Marian, who admits she had never seen Minx used as makeup before.

The Nail Team
Marian led the nail stylist team of Adam Slee, Kimberley Casey, Naja and Jane Emerson, who did a fab job of applying Minx to the 24 models for the show.

“The overall theme of the show with its cages and bars and lines was delivered perfectly!” Said Marion.
