Top New Zealand nail stylist Leah Light provided this fun nail fashion for Rita Ora, telling us that Rita saw the Artistic CG pastels and fell in love with them.

“Rita wanted me to use all the colors, and she was also very excited with the thought of combining the pastels with glitter and 3D and Minx nail coatings all together – she wanted them totally blinged out!” laughed Leah.

Girly & Fun

Leah ended up using a range of ACG pastel colors as the base, applying glitter and 3D accents on Rita’s fingers along with her own Minx design, Golden Circuit Board, on Rita’s thumbs. Leah said “She kept telling me how much she loved her nails!”

It’s hard to argue with such a lively, happy colour. Emeralds are beautiful gems & the colour looks good on almost any skin tone. Mix & match this lively shade with almost any other colour for a cool & uplifting vibe.

This colour shows up in both their Spring and Fall colour reports & works as a lively splash of colour against neutrals or a bold accent against any of the other colours found in either palette. To wear Emerald on your nails try Del Sol Island Fever or Suncoat Going Green.

Admittedly this isn’t an easy colour for everyone to pull off and while we love it, we may opt to use it in cosmetics & accessories rather than coat ourselves in it. Minx on Friday

On Friday, Monica & her team of Roxana Pourali, Angela Lucisano & P’treece Ropiha again provided nail fashion for the runway models, this time using a custom Circus StarBurst Minx that had been inspired by the Circus Theme. They did an amazing job, the nails looked as beautiful as the models.

All told, Monica and her team applied over 800 nails to 40 models over the course of the three events!

Pantone recently unveiled their Fashion Colour Report Fall 2013, a comprehensive overview of designers’ use of colour in their upcoming collections. Released on the first day of New York Fashion Week, the Fashion Colour Report features the top 10 colours for women’s & men’s fashion for fall 2013, along with designer sketches, quotes & headshots. The report is available for free download on their website.

“Just as the leaves change in autumn, the consumer will enjoy the ability to change their ‘look’ and try a new approach to their wardrobe for brisk days ahead,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute®. “The fall 2013 palette allows for that versatility and experimentation.”

Women’s Top Fashion Colors for Fall 2013

This bold, bright tone is reminiscent of its gem namesake. Sparkling & multifaceted, emeralds bring a touch of luxury & elegance to the palette. Pair it with Mykonos Blue for a crisp, relaxed fall look. To wear Emerald on your nails try Del Sol Island Fever or Suncoat Going Green.

This is a lively, fresh & beautiful blue shade. Not too nautical & not to sky blue, but a perfect combination of the two. Pair it with almost any of the other shades to pull in a little cool. To wear Mykonos Blue on your nails try Nubar Blueberry & SolarActive Baseball Blue to Field Green

We adore this delicate dried grass colour, reminiscent of the changes foliage goes through as the colder weather settles in. This is an unexpectedly bright element in the palette & can easily be paired with each of the other colours for an uplifting bright. To wear Linden Green on your nails try a-england Princess Sabra.

This bold colour adds a bit of mystery & richness to the palette. Can be paired with any other colour from the palette for powerful fall colour combinations – try something striking like Linden Green or Koi. To wear Acai on your nails try Nubar Toga Purple or a-england Avalon.

A perfect fall red, this colour works as an accent or as a whole ensemble. We adore this spirited red, it has hints of pink for a bright, feminine flavor. This is one red that looks nice against soft, white winter skin. Pair it with Carafe, Turbulence or Deep Lichen Green for a bold & sexy look. To wear Samba on your nails try Nubar Fiery Red, Nubar Sultry Red & a-england Perceval.

Another season staple, this lovely orange is reminiscent of bold & beautiful koi fish. This is a decorative orange with a great deal of versatility, try pairing it with Mykonos Blue or Emerald for a bold autumn look. To wear Koi on your nails try SolarActive Kicking Coral to Crimson Red or Suncoat Golden Sunlight Orange.

Probably our fave of this season’s palette, this colour is striking. This is a fun & playful hue that can spice up each & every other colour in the palette. Pair it with Carafe or Turbulence for a flirty fall combo or try it with Acai or Emerald for an in your face fall look. To wear Vivacious on your nails try Nubar Geisha Blaze, Nubar Valentine Pink or Suncoat Pink Dahlia.

A lovely cornerstone colour, this is the perfect dark mercurial grey. A sophisticated alternative to black or brown that looks great with this colour palette & beyond. Pair it with Koi or Samba for a striking look or try it with Linden Green or Mykonos Blue for a more subtle outfit. To wear Turbulence on your nails try Nubar Silver Sword or a-england Ascalon.

Another of the base colours, every fall wardrobe needs a little bit of brown. This one is a deep, glamourous shade – also a great substitute for harsh black. Pair it with Samba or Koi for a lovely warm traditional fall feelm, or try it with Mykonos Blue or Emerald for an unexpected twist. To wear Carafe on your nails try Suncoat Copacabana.

New York, New York

Over 250 fashion-savvy guests were greeted by live mannequins who were dressed in unique yellow ribbon dresses & Minxed with custom Minx nail coatings designed & applied by leading Australian nail stylist Monica Ropiha. Fire breathers, trumpet players, bundles of yellow balloons & floating umbrellas in the pool combined with a live performance of Empire State of Mind created a jubilant atmosphere.

“I was so excited to be given such fun theme to work with,” exclaimed Monica, who was tasked with creating the custom nail fashion for the launch event. “I discussed some ideas with Janice Jordan, the co-founder of Minx & in no time we came up with a yellow taxi cab design that epitomizes New York, & then decided to add “Fashion Palette” lettering to make the nail coatings specific to this event.”

The Nail Taxi Magic

On Thursday night, Monica & her team of nail stylists adorned the nails of 40 models for the main runway event using a custom Minx inspired by all 16 designers. “I had collaborated with Janice at Minx to create a nail design that would complement every outfit,” explained Monica, “& the result was a soft nude pink with a white triangle from the cuticle with a holographic accent line that looked fantastic on the runway,” she enthused.

Spring 2013

This season, designers overwhelmingly address consumers’ desire for self-expression, balance & the need to re-energize. The color direction for spring builds upon these compelling needs with a palette that mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals to create a harmonious balance.
