We’ve been using what we have learned during the many fashion weeks of the world to give us inspiration for our summer looks. It’s been an educational season and we have plenty of fun tips to share if you are looking for sweetly summer looks. We’ll continue to provide new and unique ways to look at colour for every season and follow them up with tutorial ideas. A big thank you to the lovely ladies who created these talented tutorials.

A great selection of tutorials that span a variety of types and styles from bold summer patterns to tropical florals and even a little sunshine. A different take on summer tutorials, the summertime tutorials use current fashion trends as the basis for colour selection and artistic ideas. When you think about it nails are an accessory and designers know their accessories. Applying their knowledge to nails just makes sense and we’ve made it easy.

Summer makes us think of the bright colours found in fruit salad and fruity cocktails. We love the bold ripe shades of fresh fruit and putting it on our nails just makes us feel good… not fruity. We’ve got a great selection of fruit art tutorials from FIMO 3D fun to bold themes to extreme designs.

All that fruit makes us think of enjoying it (and some of those fruity drinks) at various tropical locations around the globe. We love the idea of using the runways to help us decide what to put on our nails and we’ve been sharing quite a bit about it lately. We’ve already shared some great fashionable spring colours and now it’s time to share some fabulous tutorials that follow similar artistic themes.

Daring Disco

The term disco can have a variety of connotations depending upon where you live. However in the end, there are some overall themes universally associated with disco – glittery, brash, disheveled, and of course always dancing. It doesn’t matter whether you think disco means a hopped up nightclub with pounding music and lots of lights; or a 70′s scene with halter dresses, overly bright makeup and platform shoes. There is a happy medium to be found and these tutorials can help you find it.

We are and we may just have to get out (out on the dance floor, that is) in the very near future…what time is it now? If disco was never your thing, go check out some rock and roll nail art tutorials.

Chilling

In the frosty spirit of this glittering season, we thought we’d post some winter nail art. If it’s going to be cold, we might as well have fantastic nails – and a winter theme is just icing on the cake. Planning Ahead

The great thing about nails is that you can do them the day before and not worry (too much) about destroying them before your big night. This makes a considerable cut in prep time the day of and saves you having to wait out drying varnish. Beyond planning your outfit, it’s also about planning for the event…what you wear must fit the night. The same goes for nails, so the less labor intensive your evening plans, the more extravagant you can go.

Finding Your Retro

Everyone can have their own retro style whether it’s the roaring 20′s, the demure 30′s, the deco 40′s, the be-bop 50′s, the sleek 60′s or the glittering 70′s, (we aren’t ready to call the 80′s retro just yet) or a colourful combination of them all. We think the sky is the limit when it comes to your nails. Although we did try to cover as many decades as we could, some of them warrant their very own post and may be conspicuously missing.

Feeling The Past?

We like the idea of keeping hold of looks from the past, especially the cute ones! There is a lot of material here so hopefully you found one from your decade of choice. If not, stay tuned for future tutorial posts and be sure to check out our rainbow of nail tutorials.

Tis’ The Season

That said, we do love the goodwill vibe, the smell of fresh evergreen, the lights and glaring red and green colours associated with the season. Oh, and of course, the mistletoe, we can’t forget about that…and the parties. All of the holiday parties mean we need new dresses, and shoes and maybe an accessory or two. Don’t even get us started on cosmetics, that’s another laundry list. So all of that combined (and probably some stuff we are missing) are the very best bits of the holiday season, so bring it on!

Even the good girls want to feel bad now and again and you can do that without even being bad. Rip up your jeans a little and throw a pair of fishnets under them, now you are getting somewhere! Black bra, white tank top, a couple of tattoos and a piercing somewhere. What, not willing to go that far? No one at Team Inspirationail is either, but we like to make our nails look tough sometimes…as long as we can wear them with pink.
